INCREASE OF RETIREMENT AGE ?

Started by: GOLDEN BEAR (6556)

I would like to ask the members what they think or have any comment's on the news that broke yesterday that this TORY GOVERNMENT are seriously considering putting up the age one recieves their OLD AGE PENSION. The statement went on to say that because we are all living longer the country will not and cannot sustain the current levels of paying the popupous . So their plan's could be raising by 2028 to 70 yrs and by 2035 they could see it go up to a staggering 75 years before one could claim their O.A.P. On reading and hearing this it cast my mind back to the recent riots in FRANCE , where MACRON wanted to ,or has put it up to 62 years to get their pension , I JUST WONDER WHAT THEY WOULD DO IF HE WERE TO TRY JUST SUCH AN EXERCISE ????/

People who make these decisions have more than likely never done a manual job in their life.

Tories won't be around much longer...then the red tie wearing monkeys will continue where they left off.

Well I have heard that actually they will be cancelling 'retirement' altogether from 2028, which means that yoo will be going back to work, your retirement is being revoked LINK

Actually, Golden Bear's wording is incorrect, as there is no official retirement age.

You can retire what age you like so long as you can support yourself.

Thank you for supplying that piece on retirement , Needless to say it took quite a while to read and digest as i said before it does not make good reading for the younger generation's coming after us . What trouble's me is the fact that to coin a phrase "working man" All i ask is what kind of activity and liesure will these people be able to enjoy when after working all these extra years ,and finally has been said how come the people's of EUROPE work and recieve their state pension's earlier thatn us ???? I honestly believe the young people of our country can't or don't want to look that ahead which is a pity, for before they can blink they will soon be getting old as we all do !!

GB did not write about the retirement age he wrote about the age you will have to be before you can claim state pension. My mate is 74 year old and still working He draws his state pension and gets taxed on his wages

most people cant just retire they have to keep going . but this lot will work you into an early grave & they dont come under the same laws as we do . i,m sure that if they could they would put it up to 75 without even blinking an eye about it .

If yoo think it is bad in this country, and some folk can't afford to retire, be glad that you are not in America, there is a depiction of the life of retired people in a most excellent film, which I am going to mention elsewhere too, and it is called Nomadland LINK

It is available on Amazon Prime Video, and it uses very few actors, most of the people play themselves.
